Thermal Infra-Red Survey
Thermal Infra-red Surveys
A thermal survey of your electrical equipment can identify underlying problems with your electrical installation allowing them to be resolved before a dangerous incident occurs.
Electrical installations that are in poor condition or electrical equipment that is about to fail or have an excess demand on it produces heat at the danger points. As the equipment is often mounted within the fabric of the building, it is difficult or impossible to spot during a visual inspection. By having a thermal survey of your electric problems can be found and rectified before they fail, before they cause damage and down time for the building and occupants.
A specialist camera is employed to scan the wiring, distribution boards, consumer units, lights, switches, and sockets to look for areas of high heat that can damage cables, switchgear, circuit protection and electrical fittings.
Pictures of the problems are taken and a written report detailing the area, equipment and action taken to rectify it.
The thermal infra red survey can be carried out at the time of your Electrical Installation Condition Report or even during the normal use of the building under test, this can be beneficial as it is normally when the electrical installation is having the highest demands placed upon it.
